M-Series2 Serial card configuration issue?

Hi,

I have M-Series2 Serial Card with redundant termination but now I don't want to use redundant configuration. Is it possible? Also termination resistor needed?

Because when auto-sensed, it comes up as redundant configured. And if I insert manually these two it gives errors:

  • configuration mismatch
  • Bad configuration
  • Both card report problem

Also not polling slave devices. LED status (P01,P02) is blank.

Thanks.

  • One thing to add:
on LEFT CARD (slot-1) "redundant" is mentioned while on RIGHT CARD (slot-2) "interface" is mentioned by Emerson.

Which one can be as master individually while configuring? Does it matter or not?

I don't have experience with redundant serial cards but for most DeltaV cards the terminal block makes the cards redundant if I recall correctly. A simplex card requires a simplex term block. If you have them configured as two simplex cards in your configuration that will result in the configuration mismatch and bad configuration errors. BOL says that the terminations on the left be connected to the primary computer. The two sides aren't Redundant and Interface, the screen printing of "Redundant Interface" is just split between the two card connection pieces.

You should be able to configure as redundant but not connect the second connection which will result in a redundancy lost error but should still be able to communicate over the primary card path.

Terminating resistor (or resistor/capacitor) will depend on the requirements of the serial network you are connecting to. DeltaV does not have a terminating resistor requirement itself.
