Flowmeter issues

We have several 2700 series Coriolis Flowmeters measuring Sucrose, and  Palm oil,. Operations wants them field calibrated. Does anyone have a set of guidelines to get me headed in the right direction? They have been in place about 1 1/2 years and noone has developed a procedure for checking them

  • Hi Billy - Coriolis meters, unlike many mechanical meters, do not have moving parts that wear over time, need maintenance or replacement, or can otherwise change over time introducing errors that requires periodic calibration. Field calibration is not detrimental to the meter, but it is likely not needed. Hope that helps! Let us know if you need anything else!

Have you seen a calibration procedure on the website anywhere that I can go by. I would like to use a Hart 475 communicator.

Hi Billy - Micro Motion Coriolis meters do not require routine calibration procedures.  We do have diagnostic capabilities that are built into the transmitter that can be reviewed periodically.  Using a 475, you should be able to view the status of any alerts in the device.

If you have a meter with the Smart Meter Verification (SMV) option, you can initiate meter verification from the 475 communicator to determine if the flow calibration factor is still valid.  SMV can be initiated through Service Tools > Maintenance > Routine Maintenance > Meter Verification.  Once you are at this point, just choose Manual Verification to start the process.  More information about this procedure can be found in the transmitter configuration and use manual.

    Thanks!
